Bingeing has many costs!

I'm 8 days binge free, phew!! It's tough, it's always tough but it has been many months since I could make such a claim so I'm going to hold on to the good vibes.

I did a big shop today, mainly vegetables, some fruit and a few other bits a pieces including a 30 can box of coke zero (I know full of chemicals but it fills me, helps me keep a cap on the bingeing and I have a deep love for it) some cans of pulses to make a few evening meals, low fat milk and yoghurt to make dressings and other pantry items I had run out of. I managed to by pass all my usual 'healthy' binge items. I painstakingly slowly pushed the shopping trolley past those foods I usually scarf down in the car (I call these items 'binge starters' because they are usually followed by a variety of foods once I get home then I realise I've eaten half my grocery shop and have to do it all again in a couple of days.

I do have a point here and that is bingeing is expensive, really expensive when you do it regularly. I'm sure I've mentioned this many times but I'm always blown away by how much my extra 'eat in one sitting' foods cost, today my shop was $50 to $60 cheaper than they have been in previous months. That's a hell of a lot of money and that's only the weekly shops not the in between "I have nothing to snack on" shops. Scary, no wonder the weight was piling on so quickly.

Fingers crossed for another 8 days

  1. Expenses from binges can definitely add up fast! Money we might as well be shoveling down our throats. These days my binges are dwindling down considerably but anytime I walk past the chip or cookie aisle my eyes bulge out at the prices i used to pay for minutes of the binge "high". Fingers crossed for you, keep up the dedication! :)

  2. So true, bingeing totally ruined my finances when I first started working. It totally adds up like crazy if you do it several times a week.

Congrats on being binge free for over a week! You can do this!

  3. I know it's ridiculous isn't it, we know the cost to our bodies but the cost to our finances slips our mind, well it does me when I'm in full bingeing mode. Thanks for the encouragement ladies :-)
